If you are using POP mailboxes in Classic Outlook then the January Windows 11 update most likely broke your email, resulting in send/receive errors and Outlook freezing and not shutting down properly (and then not opening at all). The fix is simple and involves uninstalling the windows update that was installed on around the 15/1/26 (if you are not 100% comfortable with doing this, please do not do this yourself)

In our opinion this is likely part of a push for all mail providers to get users away from the POP protocol which is outdated and not as secure as IMAP.

POP was traditionally used when mailbox space was limited but as we have gotten more mobile it is harder to manage POP on multiple machines where IMAP is a much better, and secure solution.

Talk to us today if you are still using POP and would like to get away from it, you don’t have to lose any mail to move from POP to IMAP.
