Microsoft is moving away from SMS and voice-based (phone call) two-factor authentication (2FA), shifting towards passkeys and mandatory multi-factor security to counter AI-driven cyber threats.
We support this move because it protects the business customers from less secure authentication methods than can be phished or intercepted.
What this means is, if you are using a text or a phone call to authenticate yourself in the Microsoft Business login page all this is about to change. This will start to happen in September this year.
The easiest way to comply with Microsoft’s requirements is to migrate to a Microsoft Authenticator based 2FA for your Microsoft logins.
This needs to be done with care, if you get it wrong you could lock yourself out of your Microsoft account.
